I represent many different carriers. As is the situation with health
insurance, each carrier has its niche. One carrier may be better for you if
you are a 55 year old smoker and another if you are a 35 year old
triathlete. I use a quote engine that lets me run quotes with a number of
companies for each client.
I can run quotes on inexpensive term life coverage or more expensive universal life coverage.
Term life policies last for a specific period of time such as 10, 15, 20, or 30 years. Typically clients purchase this type of coverage to pay for a mortgage or to make sure there is money to put the kids through college.
Universal life policies have a cash value that can be borrowed against and can be set up to last a long time such as to age 100. These types of plans are also used to protect an estate from tax consequences or to insure that a business has an orderly transition to new ownership should a principle pass away.
